Great stories deserve great distribution
Story Metro is a technology company building a modern home for clean ebooks and audiobooks — connecting readers who want stories they can trust with the authors who write them.
Why we built Story Metro
Two problems kept surfacing. Readers and families waste hours searching for books that match their values, only to be surprised by content a few chapters in. And the authors who write those very books often give up the majority of their earnings just to reach an audience.
Story Metro is our answer: a curated subscription platform that pairs trusted content with author-first economics and modern software. One simple membership gives readers unlimited access to books and audiobooks they can recommend to anyone — while giving authors a better deal and a direct line to the readers looking for them.

Built by a team that’s done this before
Story Metro brings together decades of experience across publishing, large-scale technology, and audiobook production.
What we’re building
A live product, in production today

A curated, clean catalog
Every title is reviewed against our Clean Reads standard before it reaches a reader. No graphic content, no surprises — a library you can recommend to anyone.

One subscription, every device
A single $9.99 membership unlocks unlimited reading and listening in any modern browser and through our native iOS and Android apps.

A better deal for authors
Independent authors and publishers distribute on author-first terms, keep their rights, and reach readers who are actively looking for their kind of story.

What we mean by “clean”
Story Metro applies a content standard we call Clean Reads. Every title is reviewed against it before publishing, and authors agree to it as part of their distribution agreement. The standard excludes explicit sexual content, graphic violence, gratuitous profanity, and material that glorifies illegal activity, self-harm, or abuse.
We’re not the right platform for every reader, and we’re not trying to be. We build for readers who want to recommend any title in their library to someone they care about — without a second thought.
Meet the team
A small, founder-led team building for readers and authors
Publishing, Hollywood & product leadership
Jarom Sidwell has spent his career helping great stories find the people they're meant to reach. His journey has taken him across publishing, Hollywood, and technology, but the mission has always been the same: connect creators with audiences.
As a marketing leader in the publishing industry, Jarom helped launch a debut title into Amazon’s Top 50 during its release and contributed to more than 10,000 book sales in its first year. He also partnered with authors to create and present interactive school assemblies and live events, inspiring students to discover new books while helping authors expand their readership.
Before founding Story Metro, Jarom worked on some of Hollywood’s biggest productions, including Avatar, The Hobbit, The Avengers, Man of Steel, and The Adventures of Tintin. He later led product, marketing, and technology teams that built digital products used by hundreds of thousands of people. Across every role, one idea kept surfacing: great stories deserve great distribution. That conviction became Story Metro.
When he’s not building Story Metro, Jarom enjoys reading history, exploring emerging technology, and spending time with his wife and children. He believes stories have the power not only to entertain, but to shape character, strengthen families, and change lives.
20+ years building large-scale software
Greg Mascherino has spent more than twenty years building software, and the teams behind it. From programming control systems early in his career to leading engineering teams at Rubicon Project — a global adtech platform handling trillions of transactions a month — a visual effects studio, and FamilySearch, the world’s largest genealogy organization, he has built big, reliable systems that people count on every day.
Greg cares about people as much as he cares about code. For years he has taught and mentored engineers, as a certified instructor at CEDIA and an adjunct instructor at Weber State University. As he likes to put it, he builds people the same way he builds software.
Today, Greg’s focus is Story Metro, where he is the technical co-founder and the builder behind the platform. For him, it’s personal. He kept watching his wife start a book on a great recommendation, only to hit a scene a few chapters in that made her put it down for good. He believes readers shouldn’t have to gamble on what’s inside a book, and that families should be able to find stories they can trust.
When he’s not building something, you’ll find Greg with his five kids or buried in a good book — usually science fiction, fantasy, or a romantic comedy.
Audie-nominated narrator & producer of 200+ books
Emma Faye is an Audie-nominated and award-winning audiobook narrator and producer of over 200 books, known for her passion for clean, wholesome storytelling. She specializes in narrating clean and sweet romance, Christian non-fiction, YA fantasy, and middle-grade adventures.
A strong advocate for clean media, Emma believes what we consume matters deeply. She founded a small audiobook production company, Cats Meow Productions, which also produces clean reads, and she loves helping authors on their audiobook journey.
When she’s not in the booth, you’ll find her on stage, baking cookies, or snuggling her many cats. She loves Story Metro’s mission of bringing like-minded readers and authors together around books they don’t have to skip scenes in or set down over content.
The company behind the platform
A real, operating company
Story Metro is operated by Story Metro LLC, a limited liability company organized in the State of Utah, United States. The product is fully launched — live in production on the web, the Apple App Store, and Google Play, with subscriptions open to anyone today.
A licensed subscription service
Every title is provided by an author, publisher, or other rights holder under a written distribution agreement. Story Metro does not host anonymous uploads and does not redistribute material that is not licensed to us. Titles come either directly from independent authors who apply to publish, or through partnerships with small and mid-size imprints.
How readers subscribe
A subscription is $9.99 per month for unlimited reading and listening — no per-title charges, no rental windows, no separate audiobook credits. Anyone can preview the first 10% of any ebook or the first two tracks of any audiobook before subscribing.
